This area of Uttarakhand has been recognised as a National Park since 1982. It is decorated with never-ending vast, and lined meadows. Altitude is – 12000 feet (3658 meters) above the sea level. This majestic place is the home to endangered species and rare animals. From the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk bear, brown bear to red fox and blue sheep and even birds, you will also find high altitude birds like Himalayan Monal Pheasant.

Valley of Flowers Itinerary
Day 01: Pickup from Haridwar Railway Station and Drive to Joshimath

  • Total Distance – 257 km – 10/11 Hours journey

Your dedicated tour guide will receive you from the Haridwar railway station. After meet and greet, with all trekkers will start journey to Sankri.

About 10 to 11 hours long journey from Haridwar to Joshimath, along the holy rivers – Alaknanda, Mandakini and Ganges. On your way to Joshimath you pass through Devprayag, the confluence of river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. This is beautiful place. The journey will not be boring as the scenery changes abruptly as you go further.

Arrive at Joshimath Base Camp, take some rest at our pre-booked hotel, in the evening you can explore the surrounding areas. Get back, have dinner and enjoy comfortable stay in the hotel.

Day 02: Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat by taxi, and then trek to Ghangaria
  • Trek Distance – 09 km – 5/6 Hours journey
  • Mode of Journey – On foot
  • Altitude Ghangaria – 10,101 feet
  • Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

After a delicious breakfast, you will start your almost 1 hour journey towards Govindghat. You will start your trekking from Govindghat on a clean trail which is always in a very beautiful condition because the volunteers’ clear this trail every day.

The trail from Poolna to Ghangaria is very beautiful and a mixture of sunny and shaded paths. The road will take you ta a foot-bridge, get to the other side by the foot-bridge, and continue hiking. After a while you will reach a tabular land which indicates that Ghangaria is nearby.

There is a helipad and some camping grounds in Ghangaria. Ghangaria village is near to the camps, there are restaurants, hotels and a Gurudwara which offers food and accommodation. Overnight stay in Hotel.

Day 03: Trek from Ghangaria to Valley of flowers

  • Altitude – Valley of flowers – 12,140 feet
  • Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Today, the most waited part of your trek, you will visit to a World Heritage Site and National Park of Flowers. After breakfast, you will start trekking from Ghangaria and come in front of the entry gate of the valley of flowers national park.

Get in and witness the resounding beauty of the flowers. The flowers inside the national park blooms like carpet in the ground. After 1 kilometer from the gate, there is a bridge over a gushing stream. All around this place, looks mesmerizing! Cross the bridge and you will reach at the innumerable colorful flower ceremonies.

You can see the mountains on the horizon of the valley, which enchantment the view. Go deeper and marvel at the fragrant flowers, the valley extends from 6-7 km until a glacier is visible.

July and August are the most appropriate months to visit the valley of flowers, the remarkable flowers that you will see are – Blue Poppy, Dog flower, Hooked stick seed, Snake foil, Meadow Geranium and Himalayan Rose.

Have your lunch, and after excursion get back to hotel in Ghangaria.

Day 04: Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back
  • Trek Distance – 12 km – 7/8 Hours journey

  • Altitude – Hemkund Sahib Ji – 14,100feet
  • Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Very early in the morning, start your trek today before 6:00. A beautiful ceremony, with people reciting the chorus outside the Gurudwara Gate, takes place at 5:00 p.m. So get ready, take you’re a poncho and reach Hemkund Sahib, as early as possible.

The steep yet beautiful trail will  gradually take you to cascading waterfall. You will find next a melting glacier ahead, when the tree line moves away and the views become clearer. Adequate rest should be taken to prevent altitude sickness but do not sit down as it will make trekking to the remaining path more difficult.

Reach Gurudwara “Hemkund Sahib Ji” after a rigorous ascent. There is a lake behind it called Hemkunt Lake, which stays frozen for 6 months

Pray inside the Gurudwara, take some tea there and stroll around the Gurudwara. The Hemkund Lake is clean, pure and peaceful. A large number of Brahama Kamals grow in around this Lake.

After spending a good time there, start descending through the steep terrain and reach Ghangaria.

Day 5: Trek from Ghangaria to Govind Ghat (09km) and drive to Joshimath
  • Trek Distance – 09 km – 5/6 Hours journey
  • Mode of Journey – On foot
  • Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

After breakfast, start Trekking From Ghangaria to reach Govindghat. Packed lunch will be provided from the camp. After lunch, our car will take you from Govindghat to Joshimath. Overnight stay in the Hotel.

Day 06: Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar via Rishikesh by taxi
  • Trek Distance –258 km – 9/10 Hours journey
  • Mode of journey – By Taxi
  • Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Today after breakfast, start your journey towards Haridwar. Have your lunch on the way, and you will be at Haridwar by the evening 6 pm.

The trek ends with sweet memories.

🎒 Things To Take

Mandatory Documents:
  •  Original and photocopy of government photo identity card- (Aadhar Card, Driving License, Voters ID, etc,)
  •  Passport and Visa important to foreigners
  •  Medical Certificate (First part should be filled by the Doctor and Second part by the Trekker)
  • Declaration Certificates
Necessary Items for Trekkers:
  • Backpack (50 to 60 liters)

A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)

  • Sturdy Trekking Shoes

The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.

  • Trek Pants

The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.

  • Jacket

Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.

  • Layers of warm Clothing

Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.

  • Thermals

The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.
